What is interesting about their later Windows OS versions however is that the folks at Redmond plan to roll out a common version of windows for all devices, pretty ambitious!
It is now possible to download a Windows 8 preview which I did a couple of days ago and, like Windows Mobile it looks like it will take some getting used to!
It is pretty revolutionary, a massive departure from every other OS they have produced. If you think about it conceptually Windows has not really progressed since version 3.1, presenting clickable icons on your desktop.
Windows 8 is very different, clearly geared up for touch screen as well as desktop access, which it needs to be if it is going to be a common platform.
The tiles do show more than the old icons, you can move around the screen. There is some interesting integration with Xbox, Skydrive, Mail, a lot of good stuff!
